Sewing for Change

The Sewing for Change COVID-19 Community Initiative

Update

Creative Reuse Toronto is no longer working with this collective initiative. We are transitioning back to our original purposes that were sidetracked by the urgent community need.
More news coming on the group that is continuing this work under a different name

The First 5 months of this initiative

There is an urgent need for cloth masks, in Toronto and all of Canada. Many hospitals, long term care homes, grocery stores, delivery services and other essential services have put a call out for protection. So we listened and quickly responded. We believe everyone should feel safe in the workplace and out in public.

Our first set of masks went to Michael Garron Hospital, which was responsible for arranging the donation of materials to us for this purpose. More have been sent out to answer requests from other community agencies working on the front lines. We  also made surgical gowns, caps, headbands and scrub bags on request from long term care homes, hospitals and clinics who were short on medical grade PPE.

For reasons of safety and security, please DO NOT LEAVE DONATIONS AT OUR DOOR.
